Becoming a Poet!

Poetry is an art!
You’re probably wondering ‘why poetry?’ Well, there are many art forms that usually go unrecognized and acknowledged on so many levels. Poetry is one of such. Many hear the word but have no true understanding of what it is and what it entails.
Poetry in itself is a written or verbal expression of thoughts, emotions, feelings and sometimes abstract things by an author. It is the art of rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts.(www.dictionary.com)
Titilope Sonuga is a poet who was raised in Nigeria and Canada. She has returned to become one of the fresh emerging voices in the Nigerian spoken word (and poetic) space. In April 2015, she became the first inaugural poet at the swearing in ceremony of the incoming President Buhari.
