Wladyslaw Szpilman, was a talented Polish pianist on whom the movie ‘The Pianist’ was based. In August 1942, during world war 2, Szpilman and his family were lined up for transportation to Treblinka – one of the worst extermination camps the Nazi had built. But through divine intervention he escaped. As the war intensified many of his friends and families were killed.
